At today’s UNSC briefing on the question concerning Haiti, Permanent Representative of Greece, Amb. Evangelos Sekeris:
➡️ expressed concern about the increasing gang violence and the growing prevalence of self-defence groups which undermine police and government authority
➡️ reiterated Greece’s support to the Multinational Security Support Mission led by Kenya
➡️ welcomed the recent Resolution on Haiti adopted by the Organization of American States, in support of security in the country
➡️ expressed strong concern about the 490% increase in grave violations against Haitian children in 2024
➡️ acknowledged the progress that has been achieved in the political process, particularly in the drafting of the revised constitutional text
➡️ commended the work of SRSG Salvador and BINUH for their work and dedication.
