The United Nations Human Rights Council is holding its fifty-fifth session from February 26 to April 5, at the United Nations Office at Geneva. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Giorgos Gerapetritis addressed the Council’s Summit on February 27 and during his visit, he also met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Volker Türk.
On March 11, the Permanent Mission of Greece at Geneva, together with the Missions of the USA and India, organized a side event titled: “The right to access and participate in science”. The event was also supported by the Universal Rights Group, a think tank specializing in global human rights policy.
Among the keynote speakers were the UN Special Rapporteur on cultural rights Ms Alexandra Xanthaki, while remarks were also delivered by distinguished panelists from the research university of Neuchâtel, as well as the “Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator” (GESDA), a pioneering multilateral initiative uniting scientific achievements with the power of diplomacy in the service of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
