At today’s Security Council meeting on South Sudan, Permanent Representative of Greece, Ambassador Evangelos Sekeris:
➡️ stressed the need for decisive steps to be taken toward the full implementation of the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement, including a clear framework for conducting free, fair and peaceful elections in 2026
➡️ expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in Sudan and the security and humanitarian implications it poses on South Sudan’s stability
➡️ reiterated its strong support to the work of UNMISS & to all African-led peace initiatives and efforts
➡️ reaffirmed Greece’s unwavering commitment to the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of South Sudan.
