The Universal Declaration of Human Rights turns 75
10 December 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of one of the world’s most groundbreaking global pledges: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This landmark document was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 and sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected, regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status
Greece remains fully committed to the values of freedom, equality, dignity and justice for all, enshrined in the Declaration. As a signatory party to all major international human rights treaties and a candidate member state for the UN Security Council, if elected, Greece reiterates its commitment to contribute substantially, to the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda (WPS), on the basis of International Law, using our three core instruments: Dialogue, Diplomacy, Democracy.
