Ahead of Greece’s tenure on the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member for the biennium 2025/26, the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs prepares its framework of synergies with United Nations Member States with a purpose to increase its engagement, promote its overarching priorities and maximize its term’s impact.
From December 9 to 11, a Greek and an Indian delegation held roundtable discussions in New Delhi, India. The Greek side was headed by Hellenic Foreign Ministry Int’l Organisations Director-General, Ambassador Maria Theofili, while the Indian side was headed by External Affairs Ministry Joint Secretary, Ambassador Tshering W. Sherpa. Discussions reaffirmed the excellent level of bilateral relations between Greece and India. During the two day visit, the officials from the two Ministries took stock of their cooperation achievements within the UN and its Organisations, especially in the field of maritime security, which constitues one of the six main priorites of the Greek tenure on the UN Security Council.
