Having maritime protection as one of its key priorities for its UN Security Council candidacy, the Hellenic Republic has lent its support to two important conferences on the subject held this month:
Thalassa means Sea
The first is a conference held on February 15, in Paris, powered by the Hellenic Delphi Economic Forum and the French Institute of Oceanography. Titled “Thalassa, from the Archipelago to the Oceans”, the Conference invited more than 30 experts from the academia, the business world, national authorities and NGOs to deliberate on the issue of maritime protection and security.

‘Green’ is the new ‘Blue’
The second initiative was the ‘2nd Stakeholder Conference for Sustainable “Blue Economy”’ held in Athens, on February 19-20, powered by the Union for the Mediterranean. The Forum was an opportunity for stakeholders to take stock of the progress made to date regarding the implementation of the 10 priority cooperation areas endorsed by the 43 Union Member States in 2021, following the signing of the Ministerial Declaration on Sustainable Blue Economy.
