Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General for International Organisations, Ambassador Maria Theofili met with Europe Director of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Ms Birgitte Bischoff Ebbesen and the President of the Hellenic Red Cross, Dr. Antonios Avgerinos.
During their meeting, Ambassador Theofili had the opportunity to highlight Greece’s recent distribution of humanitarian aid to the civilians of the Gaza Strip through the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in close cooperation with the Egyptian Authorities. IFRC is the world’s largest humanitarian network, engaging some 16 million volunteers across 191 countries. IFRC’s Europe Director oversees 53 Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies in Europe and Central Asia. Founded in 1877, the Hellenic Red Cross is nowadays Greece’s largest non-governmental organization.
