On December 4-5, 2025 representatives from the European Union and current EU member states serving on the United Nations Security Council (Denmark, France, Greece, Slovenia and incoming Latvia) gathered in Copenhagen, Denmark, for consultations within the framework of the regular rotation meetings. The Hellenic Foreign Ministry was represented by the Head of the UNSC Task Force, Ambassador Maria Theofili.
A central objective of these meetings is to ensure coordination between the EU member states and the European External Action Service, the diplomatic service of the European Union, ensuring unity within the UN security Council. To secure that European values and interests are effectively represented within the UN’s primary body for international peace and security, EU members at the UNSC engage in regular deliberations and strategic planning. Discussions covered issues of the UN agenda within the United Nations framework, and the delegations exchanged views on recent developments in Ukraine, the Middle East, and Africa.
