At today’s annual UNSC Open Debate on Children and Armed Conflict, Permanent Representative of Greece, Ambassador Evangelos Sekeris:
➡️ welcomed the Secretary-General’s latest annual report as an insightful call for action to protect children from the devastating impact of war
➡️ thanked the SRSG, Ms. Virginia Gamba, for her work, efforts and dedication in effectively steering the CAAC mandate forward
➡️ expressed deep concern about the extreme levels of violence against children reflected in the report
➡️ called upon all parties to conflict to abide by international humanitarian law and international human rights law, to engage with UN, and to develop credible action plans to end and prevent the six grave violations against children
➡️ reiterated strong support to UN mandate for Children and Armed Conflict and underlined that Greece, as Chair of the UNSC Working Group on Children and armed conflict, is firmly committed to advance the protection of children.
