At the UN Security Council briefing on the situation in the Middle East (Iran), the Permanent Representative of Greece:
↪ Expressed deep concern for the continued escalation of violence and the use of force against protesters, the loss of human life -among them children- and the widespread arrests, which are absolutely condemnable.
↪ Stressed that fundamental rights, including the inherent right to life, the freedoms of expression and assembly, are universal rights and must be fully respected.
↪ Reiterated Greece’s full respect for international law and the UN Charter and its belief on the need for de-escalation, dialogue and the peaceful resolution of the current crisis.
