At today’s UN Security Council emergency briefing on threats to international peace and security, the Permanent Representative of Greece:

↪ strongly condemned the incursion of the Polish airspace by Russian drones and stressed that it stands in full solidarity with the Government and the people of Poland

↪ underlined that this most serious violation of the airspace of an EU and NATO member state constitutes a reckless act and is part of a serious escalation, which threatens the security of citizens, regional stability and international peace

↪ reiterated its conviction that an immediate ceasefire is needed in Ukraine, as a necessary first step towards a permanent, comprehensive, just and lasting peace settlement

↪ stressed that Russia’s war on Ukraine is not only a European, but also a global problem, and that any future peace agreement on Ukraine should be founded on credible and robust security guarantees, which will effectively deter any recurrence of armed aggression
