UN Security Council Briefing on the situation in the Middle East (Yemen)

At today’s UN Security Council briefing on the situation in the Middle East (Yemen), the Permanent Representative of Greece:

↪ condemned in the strongest possible terms the Houthi invasion into the premises of the World Food Programme and UNICEF in Sana’a, which led to the forcible detention of twenty-one UN personnel,

↪ expressed deep gratitude for the service of humanitarian workers and reiterated the need for immediate and unconditional release of all arbitrarily detained personnel.

↪ stressed that life-saving and life-sustaining humanitarian assistance and protection services must continue uninterrupted to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen

↪ strongly condemned Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, which pose a severe threat to freedom of navigation and impact on peace and security in the region, and called for the immediate release of the Eternity C crew members held by the Houthis.”
