UN Security Council briefing on the Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question

At today’s UNSC briefing on the Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question, the Permanent Representative of Greece, Ambassador Sekeris:

➡ regretted the daily undermining of the safety and security of humanitarian workers, with 15 Palestinian Red Crescent Society and UN staff members having tragically died on 23 March. Their protection must remain non-negotiable.

➡ called for the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid at scale into Gaza, a permanent ceasefire and the immediate release of all hostages.

➡ expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in the West Bank and deplored the increase of settlement activity therein.

➡ reiterated support for the proposal of a peaceful resolution of the Palestine issue, based on the two state solution, aligned with the acquis of the UNSC Resolutions, recognising the right of Israel to live in peace and security.
