At today’s UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece Mr Tassos Chatzivasileiou:
↪️ Condemned all violations of international humanitarian law resulting from Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine and called for strict compliance with humanitarian principles.
↪️ Expressed its solidarity to the European countries affected by the spillover effects of this war.
↪️ Reiterated that freedom of navigation must be fully protected in accordance with international law, as reflected in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and expressed its commitment to safeguarding energy and food supply chains.
↪️ Supported the US proposal on a moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure.
↪️ Reiterated its unwavering commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders and rejected any attempt to change borders through the use force.
