Greece joins the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children as a full member state, thus contributing to the international mobilization for the safe return of some 19,000 Ukrainian children who have been illegally deported or forcibly displaced by Russian forces.
As an elected non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the term 2025/26, the protection of the rights of children constitutes one of the main priorities of Greece. Its principled position of promoting children’s rights as well as eliminating all forms of violence especially in times of conflict, is firmly rooted in the country’s respect for the International Rule of Law.
With its latest decision to join the Coalition, Greece will contribute to the international effort of securing humanitarian, medical and psychological assistance to children and their families affected by the devastating consequences of deportation and forced displacements.
