UNSC convened today for the monthly meeting on the situation in Yemen. At the discussion, Permanent Representative of Greece Ambassador Evangelos Sekeris
➡ Welcomed the release of the M/V Galaxy Leader crew
➡ Strongly condemned the recent arbitrary detentions by the Houthis de facto authorities of additional UN personnel in areas under their control, as well as the death of one member of WFP personnel arbitrarily detained
➡ Called for the immediate and unconditional release of all diplomatic staff, UN and NGO personnel and humanitarian workers who continue to be unlawfully detained by the Houthis ➡ Underlined that Greece is strongly committed to safeguarding freedom of navigation and maritime security in the region of the Red Sea
➡ Reiterated Greece’s full support to SRSG Grundberg
and his continuous efforts to revitalize the peace dialogue in Yemen.
