Security Council meeting on the situation in Sudan

At today’s UNSC briefing on the situation in Sudan, focusing on the humanitarian aspect of the crisis, PR of Greece, Ambassador Evangelos Sekeris: 

➡️ underscored that children in Sudan are facing an unprecedented crisis and dangers, with no sign of relief, and called on all parties to implement clear directives to prevent further violations against them

➡️ expressed distress that women & girls in Sudan continue to face extreme violence, sexual violence, displacement, and lack of essential services and urged for enhanced gender-sensitive humanitarian responses to safeguard their dignity and safety

➡️ strongly reaffirmed Sudan’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and condemned any attempts to establish parallel governing structures, while stressing the need for an immediate ceasefire.
