At the UNSC emergency session convened on Sunday to consider the situation concerning #DRC, PR of Greece Ambassador Evangelos Sekeris:
➡️ strongly condemned the flagrant violation of the Luanda Process ceasefire agreement by M23 and its subsequent further territorial expansion in North Kivu. M23 must reverse their territorial advancement immediately and halt their encirclement of the town of Goma.
➡️ reiterated that the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the DRC must be respected
➡️ Commended MONUSCO’s continued courageous efforts and commitment to its mandate under extremely difficult circumstances
➡️ Expressed 🇬🇷’s heartfelt condolences to the families and countries of origin of the deceased peacekeepers, members of MONUSCO and of SAMIDRC
➡️ Stressed the need that all parties must pay full respect to the international humanitarian law and ensure unrestricted humanitarian access in the areas of hostilities.
