Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis participated in the International Conference in Support of Lebanon’s People and Sovereignty summoned on October 24, in Paris, by French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, upon initiative of French Republic President Emmanuel Macron.
This ministerial conference brought together Lebanon’s partner States, the United Nations, the European Union and international, regional and civil-society organizations. The Conference raised $1 billion in pledges for humanitarian aid and military support to help Lebanon.
Addressing the media, Greek Foreign Minister Gerapetritis stressed that “the international community must increase the delivery of humanitarian aid. Greece has already sent humanitarian aid and will continue doing so through the European Civil Protection Mechanism and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. As part of the international community and as a member of the UN Security Council in a few days, Greece will always be at the forefront of efforts for peace, which is currently under serious threat”.
