Today, December 18, is International Migrants Day. Greece marks this day on the calendar by celebrating the contributions and opportunities of Migration. At the same time, we reaffirm our commitment to bolster the protection of human rights, we stand for dignity, inclusion and justice for migrants, while we do not neglect our moral and legal obligation to put an end on the monstrosity of human trafficking.
No man is an island, no state can manage migration effectively alone. Greece supports the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration as an effective tool for States to discuss how best to address challenges to human mobility without compromising the human rights of people and states’ sovereignty.
