Ahead of Greece’s tenure on the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member for the biennium 2025/26, the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs prepares its framework of synergies with other countries, so as to maximize its term’s impact.

On October 7, in Athens, the Greek Foreign Ministry (Directorate-General for International Organisations) held technical consultations with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Directorate for the UN, International Organisations, Human Rights and Francophonie). The two delegations were headed by Greek Director General, Ambassador Maria Theofili and French Director Ambassador Béatrice Le Fraper du Hellen.

The consultations focused on a series of issues of bilateral interest within the United Nations, while the two delegations took stock of latest developments in the Middle East, Ukraine and Africa. Deliberations were followed by a working lunch hosted by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Ambassador Alexandra Papadopoulou.
