On October 21, the Permanent Missions of Qatar, Rwanda, Denmark, Malawi jointly organized a meeting of the Group of Friends on Gender Parity in the presence of the United Nations General Assembly President, Philemon Yang. The Hellenic Mission addressed the meeting stressing Greece’s support to the General Assembly and the President himself in his efforts to advance gender equality, including the implementation of the commitments of the Pact of the Future. In addition, speaking at the ‘Dialogue with the Circle of Women Ambassadors’ Greece also highlighted the constructive role of women Ambassadors in peace building processes.

As a signatory party to all major international human rights instruments, Greece attaches high priority to the realization of substantive gender equality, with particular emphasis on combating any form of discrimination and violence based on gender or sexual orientation, both domestically and globally. Within this context, promoting the “Women Peace and Security Agenda” remains Greece’s top priority, especially during its tenure as an elected member at the UN security Council for the biennium 2025/26.
