The 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly opened on September 10, welcoming leaders from across the world to deliberate on a series of pressing issues for humanity. This year’s High-Level Week (September 23-27) marks a crucial milestone in the global effort to accelerate progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
On September 26, Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met with his Senegalese counterpart Yassine Fall. The talks between the two Ministers focused on developments in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Greek Minister highlighted that maritime security is a major priority for his country, especially within the framework of Greece’s tenure on the United Nations Security Council during the biennium 2025/26. Furthermore, both Ministers agreed to advance their cooperation with the framework of the Francophonie institution, in which, both countries share an active and fruitful participation.
