At today’s UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Greece:
↪️ Expressed its solidarity with its regional partners and strongly condemned illegal and unprovoked attacks by Iran.
↪️ Welcomed the Framework Agreement and the direct Israeli-Lebanese track – a genuine opportunity towards sustainable peace.
↪️ Underlined that the need for a credible political horizon, based on the two-state solution, in Gaza remains as pressing as ever, particularly in light of the situation in Gaza.
↪️ Stressed that settlement expansion, forced displacement, demolitions and settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank violate international law.
↪️ Called for the deeper engagement between Syria and the UN during the political transition – one that must be inclusive and be accompanied by accountability, justice and genuine national reconciliation.
