At today’s UN Security Council meeting on Colombia, the Permanent Representative of Greece:
↪️ Commended the Colombian people and authorities for the peaceful presidential elections process, and for the strong voter participation.
↪️ Highlighted the importance of comprehensive rural reform and reintegration of ex-combatants as central elements of the Final Peace Agreement, and welcomed the progress achieved in its implementation.
↪️ Condemned the violence carried out by armed groups and urged the immediate cessation of their illicit activities, including the recruitment and use of children and the exposure of women and girls to conflict-related sexual violence.
↪️ Reiterated Greece’s strong support for the efforts of the Special Representative of the Secretary General Mr. Miroslav Jenča and the UN Verification Mission in Colombia to contribute to lasting peace and security.
