At today’s UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Central African Republic and the work of MINUSCA, the Permanent Representative of Greece:
↪️ Welcomed the successful completion of the electoral cycle, as well as the election of women officials and representatives.
↪️ Underscored that MINUSCA’s ongoing reconfiguration must be matched by adequate resources, capabilities and political support to effectively fulfill its mandate.
↪️ Stressed that the successful completion of the electoral cycle should serve as a catalyst for the enhanced implementation of the Peace Agreement, including further progress on Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration
↪️ thanked the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of MINUSCA Valentine Rugwabiza for her steadfast leadership, and stressed the need for continued support to MINUSCA as the Mission continues to face persistent security threats, particularly in eastern Central African Republic
