UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Libya (Report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Support Mission in Libya)

At today’s UNSC meeting on Libya/ UNSMIL, the Permanent Representative of Greece:

↪ Underscored that the UN political roadmap presented by the SRSG remains the most viable path toward the unification of state institutions and a comprehensive and sustainable peace in Libya.

↪ Welcomed initiatives that encourage dialogue between the two sides, in so far as they complement and reinforce UN-led efforts.

↪ Took stock of recent positive developments and progress such as the advancement of the structured dialogue, the agreement on a unified budget, and the conduct of joint military training, through US mediation.

↪ Welcomed the unanimous adoption of UNSC Resolution 2819, renewing the Libyan sanctions regime and calling on member states and financial institutions to support a comprehensive audit of the Libyan Investment Authority.
