UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East (Iran)

At today’s vote on a UNSC draft Res. on Iranian attacks, submitted by Bahrein on behalf of GCC/ Jordan, adopted with 13 votes and garnering the impressive support of 135 member states, the Permanent Representative of Greece:

↪ Stressed that Greece was among the first to cosponsor and voted in favour of the GCC/Jordan Resolution.

↪ Reiterated her strong condemnation of the Iranian strikes against countries in the Gulf region and elsewhere.

↪ Expressed Greece’s deep concern for the ongoing military escalation in the region.

↪ Urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to reopen credible channels of dialogue.

↪ Cautioned against the alarming consequences of this conflict on maritime security, global trade and energy supply.
