UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question

Feb 19, 2026 | News and Media

At today’s UNSC meeting on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question, the Permanent Representative of Greece:

↪ Underlined once again Greece’s strong support for the Comprehensive Plan for Gaza, endorsed by Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025).

↪ Stressed that the full disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups must be addressed urgently and effectively.

↪ Reiterated Greece‘s call for the unimpeded, large and at scale humanitarian access, including via the Cyprus Maritime Corridor.

↪ Opposed any plan to annex the West Bank, as such actions, coupled with rising settler violence, including against Christian communities, undermine the prospects of a Two-State Solution.

↪ Highlighted that the preservation and respect of the Status Quo of the Holy Sites in Jerusalem, is of paramount importance.
