At today’s UN Security Council Arria formula meeting on “Upholding the Sanctity of Treaties for the Maintenance of International peace and Security”, Greece:

↪ Underlined the binding character of international treaties, highlighting their instrumental character in the maintenance of international peace and security.

↪ Stressed that treaties establishing frontiers among States remain unaffected in cases of State succession and cannot be suspended or terminated on the basis of fundamental change of circumstances.

↪ Underscored that treaties reflecting customary international law, such as UNCLOS, are binding upon non parties thereto.
