At the UN Security Council briefing on on the 42nd Report of the ICC Prosecutor to the UN Security Council pursuant to Resolution 1593 (2005), the Deputy Permanent Representative of Greece:
↪ underlined the Report’s initial assessment on alleged systematic and widespread atrocity crimes in El Fasher and Al Geneina
↪ stressed that the ICC judgment in al-Rahman case is the first:
✅ referral-based conviction & sentencing
✅ regarding Darfur
✅ conviction on gender persecution
↪ supported the Prosecutor’s Office collaboration with both the United Nations and African Union Sudan fact-finding Missions, as well as its engagement with affected communities and grass-root organizations
