During today’s UNSC open debate, held under Sierra Leone’s Presidency and focused on conflict-related food insecurity, the PR of Greece:
➡️ reaffirmed Greece’s steadfast commitment to global food security and emphasized that conflict remains the main driver of acute hunger
➡️ urged full respect for UNSC Resolution 2417, which prohibits the deliberate use of starvation and demands unhindered humanitarian access to all civilians
➡️ highlighted the need to secure predictable financing for humanitarian and development assistance at a time of decreasing funding and growing needs
➡️ underscored the indispensable role of maritime security in safeguarding global food supply chains.
