At today’s UN Security Council briefing on the situation in the Middle East (Syria), the Permanent Representative of Greece:
↪ Welcomed Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Rochdi’s powerful message on the importance of women’s participation in the political process and their protection against systematic attacks.
↪ Underlined the need to achieve a fully inclusive political transition, by granting the right of equal representation to all Syrians, regardless of their background.
↪ Highlighted the urgency of countering terrorism, protecting civilians at all times and bringing perpetrators of violence to justice in line with international norms.
↪ Expressed readiness to stand by Syria and actively contribute to its recovery and reconstruction.
↪ Reiterated Greece’s full support to Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
