At today’s UNSC adoption of Resolution 2793 on the question concerning Haiti (12 votes in favor, 3 abstentions), Greece through an Explanation of Vote:
➡️ welcomed the adoption of the Resolution transforming the MSS into a Gang Suppression Force and establishing a UN Support Office, as a step that can significantly curb gang violence and help restore security in Haiti
➡️ supported the strong human rights provisions and the strong protections for vulnerable groups, in particular women and children, included in the Resolution
➡️ thanked the co-penholders United States and Panama, for their leadership and tireless efforts throughout the negotiation process.
