At today’s Security Council briefing on the situation in South Sudan and the work of UNMISS, Greece:
➡️ expressed deep concern that stalled implementation of the 2018 Peace Agreement threatens overall trust in the political track and may jeopardize valuable peacekeeping and peacebuilding gains achieved
➡️ highlighted the need for a coordinated reception and reintegration of South Sudanese returnees from Sudan in order to mitigate humanitarian risks and social instability
➡️ reaffirmed its steadfast support to the work of SRSG Haysom and UNMISS and called for ensuring the safety and security of its personnel as well as their ability to access areas across the country, in order to carry out their mandated tasks effectively.
