At today’s UNSC briefing on the 1540 Committee, Mr Stamatekos, Chargé d’ Affaires of the Perm. Mission of Greece to the UN:
↪ reaffirmed that the 1540 Committee remains a central pillar of the international non-proliferation architecture-vital to preserve in its entirety amid ongoing crises.
↪ reiterated its commitment to the effective and universal implementation of resolution 1540, including through its capacity as Vice-Chair of the Committee.
↪ welcomed the Committee’s 2024 review, its productive meetings, including the Open Briefing held on 9 October 2024 and the resumption of training courses for national points of contact- strengthening global security to counter WMD proliferation.
