At today’s UNSC briefing on UN Peace Operations, H.E. the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Mr Loverdos:
↪ reiterated Greece’s gratitude to the men and women peacekeepers who are committed into serving under the most challenging circumstances and condemned all attacks and hostile acts against peacekeepers
↪ stressed that Greece remains fully committed to work towards strengthening the political unity within the Council, on the issue of peacekeeping
↪ called upon the Council to put politics at the center of the work of peace operations
↪ proposed that the Council authorizes peace operations which are accompanied by an inclusive political strategy and other non-military approaches and address the root causes of conflict
↪ highlighted the need all peace operations to be equipped with the necessary resources and capabilities, including technological means, to pursue their mandates
