UN Security Council Briefing on Sudan and 1591 Committee

This morning, the UNSC convened to discuss the situation in Sudan and also received a briefing by the Chair of the 1591 Sanctions Committee. Greece:

↘ urged for an urgent revival of the dialogue process matched by genuine political will by all parties towards achieving a ceasefire and expressed support to the efforts of the Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, Mr. Lamamra

↘ highlighted that continued arms transfers and violations of the UN arms embargo are exacerbating the conflict and undermining regional stability, reminding all states of their obligations under Security Council Resolutions and urging strict compliance

↘ underscored the importance of accountability: Deliberate attacks against humanitarian personnel and civilians must not go unpunished.
