UN Security Council Briefing on the situation in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA)

At this afternoon’s UNSC briefing on the situation in the Central African Republic and the work of MINUSCA, the Permanent Representative of Greece, Ambassador Sekeris:

↘ expressed Greece’s deepest condolences for the loss in the line of duty of a third MINUSCA peacekeeper this year and noted with concern the lurking regional threats that may weight on the stabilizing efforts and progress achieved in the country’s security level.

↘ encouraged CAR’s authorities to move ahead with preparations for prospective electoral processes and aim in expanding the political and civic space to the benefit of the Peace process.

↘ commended Special Criminal Court’s contribution to transitional justice and accountability over human rights violations, at the tenth anniversary of its establishment.

↘ Reconfirmed Greece’s steadfast support to the SRSG’s critical work and to all of MINUSCA personnel’s meaningful and courageous contribution on the ground.
