At today’s UNSC briefing on Iran/ JCPOA, the Permanent Representative of Greece, Ambassador Sekeris:
↪ welcomed the ceasefire announcement, while commending the US and Qatar mediating efforts
↪ reiterated its unwavering commitment to preserving and strengthening the global nuclear non-proliferation regime
↪ express serious concern at Iran’s non-compliance with its JCPOA, Safeguards and Additional Protocol obligations, while repeating that Iran must never acquire a nuclear weapon
↪ stressed that the JCPOA -as endorsed by UNSC Resolution 2231- is still the best available framework to ensure the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program
↪ highlighted Greece’s full support to all diplomatic efforts to secure Tehran’s full compliance with its nuclear obligations
