At today’s UNSC briefing on Yemen, the Permanent Representative of Greece, Ambassador Sekeris:
➡ reiterated Greece’s call for the immediate and unconditional release of detained personnel, as well as for the transparent investigation on the recent death under Houthi detention of a World Food Program member, as underlined also by the recent press statement by the Council on June 5th
➡ stressed the importance of the UN humanitarian assistance continuing without disruption and stressed the EU’s 2025 contribution of €80 million in humanitarian funding
➡ highlighted that Greece remains committed to maritime security and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea
➡ expressed Greece’s unwavering support for Special Envoy Grundberg’s efforts towards a peace negotiation dialogue, through an inclusive Yemeni-led and -owned political process under UN auspices
