At today’s UNSC meeting on the maintenance of peace and security of Ukraine, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Greece, Mr Stamatekos:
➡ condemned in the strongest possible terms the attacks against civilians and civilian objects, and called on all parties to adhere to their obligations under international law, including International Humanitarian Law.
➡ noted recent progress during talks in Saudi Arabia and the fact that Ukraine is back at the negotiating table.
➡ echoed the Secretary General’s comment that reaching an agreement on safe and free navigation in the Black Sea would be crucial for global food security and supply chains.
➡ stressed the need for peace with credible and robust security guarantees, which will deter and prevent the recurrence of war in the future.
