The 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly opened on September 10, welcoming leaders from across the world to deliberate on a series of pressing issues for humanity. This year’s High-Level Week (September 23-27) marks a crucial milestone in the global effort to accelerate progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
On September 24, Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric Egger. During their meeting, Minister Gerapetritis reaffirmed that as an elected member of the United Nations Security Council, Greece will continue to strongly support the work of ICRC. He also stressed that Hellenic Republic’s foreign policy has always been anchored in International Law and International Humanitarian Law, as reflected in our country’s priorities at all international fora and the United Nations in particular.
