November 19, 2024 marks 1,000 days since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On this sad anniversary, our thoughts go to the thousands of war victims, including members of the Greek Community. Greece supports Ukraine in its struggle for a just and sustainable peace based on international law, the United Nations Charter and Resolutions. A peace that will meet the aspirations of the Ukrainian people for security, national independence and prosperity, in the context of a common European future.
In UN Headquarters in New York, Greece, together with 49 more countries and the European Union, stood with Ukraine to mark the start of Russia’s illegal full-scale invasion. This ongoing and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine remains a flagrant violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter which all United Nations Member-States have committed to uphold.
